We deserve so much more.
Freddie is a curated community for sapphic, trans, and gender-diverse people. Latina-founded and self-funded.
Why Freddie exists
We built Freddie because we couldn't find what we were looking for. Dating apps that felt safe. Social platforms that prioritized community over engagement. Spaces where trans and sapphic folks could connect without fear.
The platforms that exist weren't built with us in mind. They were built for scale and metrics that have nothing to do with genuine human connection. So we decided to build something different.
Freddie is self-funded because we wanted to be accountable to our community. We're Latina-founded because representation matters, not just in who uses a platform, but in who builds it.
This is our attempt at creating the space we always wished existed. A place where safety is the foundation, privacy is the default, and connection is the whole point.
What we believe
Built with Intention
Every feature is a deliberate choice. We move slowly, prioritize the long-term health of the community, and make hard calls when they're needed.
Safety as Foundation
Safety isn't a feature. It's the foundation everything else is built on. We design for protection from day one.
Privacy by Default
Your data belongs to you. We don't sell information, show targeted ads, or compromise your privacy for profit.
Intentional Connection
We optimize for meaningful connections, not engagement metrics. Quality over quantity, always.
Self-funded, community-driven
Freddie is entirely self-funded. We don't have advertisers demanding access to your data. We have a membership model that keeps us accountable to the people who actually use the platform.
This means we can move at our own pace. We can prioritize safety over speed. We can make decisions that might not maximize profit but do maximize the wellbeing of our community.
We are exploring a 'Buy me a coffee' donation flow and spinning up a Shop to support our efforts in funding Freddie.
Meet the team

Freddie started with Carmen (right) in July 2023, out of a growing frustration with queer spaces online that no longer felt like they belonged to the people they were built for. Platforms meant to serve LGBTQ+ communities had become diluted, surveilled, or quietly deprioritized, often at the expense of sapphic, trans, and gender-nonconforming people.
The first version of Freddie launched in December 2023. Around that time, Sarah (left) joined as a core partner, bringing a grounding perspective shaped by lesbian history, culture, and care. Her voice helped push Freddie beyond just another app and into something more intentional, rooted in memory, context, and community.
“The main goal for Freddie has always been to create a true third space, something that does not feel like the rest of the internet.”
Carmen, Founder of Freddie
Freddie is a social platform built specifically for sapphic, trans, and gender-nonconforming people. A space away from the cis-male gaze. A place to be horny, to look for love, to build friendships, to post freely, and to show up without flattening yourself for an algorithm.
At a time when major platforms are rolling back protections for LGBTQ+ users, Freddie holds space by design. Privacy-forward, community-led, and unapologetically centered on the people it is for.
It's messy. It's intentional.
And it's ours.
